Meet Our Fitness Team

Karen Preston
Karen enjoys helping people move well and move often. She draws on more than 20 years of experience in fitness and wellness, including work in fitness studios, clinical settings, corporate wellness programs, fitness programming, and instructor development. Her goal is to make exercise practical and effective while helping people build strength, confidence, and consistency.
Outside the Studio: Originally from Columbus, GA, Karen now lives in Newnan with her husband, Dayton. They have one adult son. She loves the beach, biking new trails, and just about any kind of movement—from strength training to yoga to a good outdoor walk while listening to an audiobook.
Fun Facts: Karen trained in ballet, jazz, and tap for over 20 years, danced competitively, and even taught dance classes for ages 3 to adult. But her favorite job? Working at the Hello Kitty store while in college!
Credentials & Experience: B.S. in Health & Exercise Science (Columbus State University), Balanced Body Mat Pilates Certification, 20+ years in fitness & wellness program design and instruction

Megon Steele
Inspired by her brother Josh, Megon began her journey into health and fitness with a heart for helping all people—especially those with special needs—build strength and well-being. Though he has passed, Josh’s memory continues to fuel her desire to empower others to pursue their personal goals and missions. Watching people build real-life strength is what lights her up most!
Outside the Studio: Megon lives outside Warm Springs with her husband of 27+ years and their two Jack Russells, LuLu and Buddy. By day she works in insurance, and in her free time she enjoys being outdoors, running, cooking, and spending time with her son and daughter-in-law.
Fun Facts: Megon has completed the 40-mile Pine Mountain Trail Run twice! More recently, her own fitness goals have focused on regaining strength and function following rotator cuff repair—with physical therapy from Jane playing an instrumental role in her recovery.
Credentials & Experience: NASM Certified Personal Trainer, UESCA Ultrarunning Coach, Special Strong Adapted Fitness Personal and Group Fitness Instructor; 7 years of fitness instruction and coaching

Sara Schmidt
Sara is passionate about helping people of all ages build strength, flexibility, and confidence through movement. A Colorado native, proud military spouse, and mom of two teenage boys, Sara spent years as an enthusiastic group fitness participant before discovering yoga—and it quickly became her passion. Her classes are welcoming and encouraging, giving participants the opportunity to challenge themselves while feeling supported along the way.
Outside the Studio: When she’s not teaching, you’ll likely find Sara hiking, kayaking, or stargazing. She believes movement and nature go hand in hand!
Fun Fact: Sara loves to write! She received an award for her writing in college and later won a national award for a poem she wrote in 2021.

Kathryn Martin
Empowering people has been at the heart of Kathryn’s career in health and wellness. Her career spans more than two decades, including leadership roles with Abbott Nutrition, Nestlé Health Science, Nutricia North America, and VAYA Pharma. As the former owner of Sunflower Yoga in Newnan, GA, she brings a holistic approach to movement and wellness. Her style is compassionate and personalized—meeting people where they are and helping them build the confidence to live their best lives.
Outside the Studio: Kathryn loves spending time in nature, traveling, learning about different people and cultures, and being with her family, friends, and pups.
Fun Fact: Kathryn is a huge football fan and has been a PSL owner for the Baltimore Ravens since 2002. Go Ravens!
Credentials & Experience: Certified Yoga Instructor (RYT-200), NPTI Certified Personal Trainer, National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC); 12 years of fitness and wellness coaching
Jane Crane, MSPT
Jane loves helping people feel better so they can pursue their goals and enjoy the things they want to do. Her decades of experience in physical therapy give her a practical perspective on movement, function, and staying active. As co-owner of Spine Mountain, Jane is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Pine Mountain community.
Outside the Studio: Jane and her husband, Larry, are empty nesters with two adult children living in NYC and California. They share their Pine Mountain home with their dog, Clay, and cat, Mr. B. Jane enjoys painting the beauty of nature in oils and watercolor, gardening, cycling, and spending time outdoors.
Fun Fact: Jane plays electric bass and loves singing harmony!
Credentials & Experience: M.S. in Physical Therapy (UAB-Birmingham), Balanced Body Mat Pilates Certification, Fellowship in Manual Therapy for the Spine with mentor Tom Boers; 36+ years of physical therapy experience
